Last week I showed you what it would take to pass a Navy SEAL Physical Fitness Test, anyone pass? This week, with hurricane Irene making its way up the East Coast I thought it would be interesting to take a look at the fitness test for some of the brave people that may be called into action as a result of the storm, the Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers.
The Rescue Swimmers program requires rigorous training that go beyond the physical requirements for the job. Because rescue missions often happen far from any medical centers Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers must be able to get to those in need and attend to them with expert care while in transit. Less than 100 people attend the training program, and not even half make it through.
