DESCRIPTION
Walking is often taken for granted, but has many health benefits. It is low impact and it can be done almost anywhere. Walking is generally distinguished from running in that only one foot at a time leaves contact with the ground and there is a period of double-support.
Regular, brisk walking can improve confidence, stamina, energy and weight control. Some studies show that it helps reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, strokes, diabetes, high blood pressure and bowel cancer. Ever figure out a nagging problem, or "clear your mind" after a walk? Well that is because walking also helps the mind, improving memory skills, concentration and abstract reasoning.
