Fleetly Privacy Policy
Version 1.0
November 1, 2010
As with most internet services, we collect quite a bit of data about you, our users. While our specific policies will no doubt evolve with our service, we are guided by five core principles:
- It is ultimately your data and we will be respectful of how you choose to have it shared
- We will be good shepherds of your data for as long as you agree to let us have it, and use it primarily for the betterment of your experience with us
- We will not give anyone else (e.g. advertisers) your private data without first gaining your explicit consent
- To the extent practicable, we will give you the ability to control exactly what happens to different elements of your data
- When new features are not obviously addressed by your existing privacy settings, privacy “defaults” will be chosen to reflect our best guess as to the likely wishes of a typical user
Our Privacy Policy consists of the following sections. By using our site, you agree to their specific terms:
Information You Provide (back to top)
When you register: When you register, we collect some or all of the following personal information: your name, birthdate, gender, email address, location, and photograph.
As you use the service: In the course of using the service, you may create and update data including exercise logs, workouts and exercises, challenges, friend lists, bio-data, and other comments that you may leave on the site. You may also share with us login information for related services (e.g. Nike Plus, Withings) to enable us to integrate those services’ data into ours.
Other Information We Gather (back to top)
We also gather information - freely available as part of most HTTP requests - such as your browser, referring site, and page requested. In some cases, this information may be linked to previous visits by the use of a cookie. For instance, to enable you to not have to log in each time, we use a cookie.
If you do not want to use cookies, you can change that in your browser’s settings.
How We Use this Information (back to top)
Our approach to private data use is primarily concerned with personally identifiable information. We believe that, if the usage is consistent with our principles outlined above, it is acceptable to use aggregated private data, and to use individual private data to deliver services, so long as the data itself remains private in either circumstance.
Basic service: The core of our service enables you to store and display your fitness data, and our primary usage of your personal data is to enable that. We also use aggregated personal fitness data to derive insights that we can share with all of our users (e.g. most popular workouts).
Product research: We track usage data to help understand what features are popular, optimize page designs, and so forth.
Targeting: We may use your personal information to target offers, features, and recommendations to you. For instance, the “recommended” workouts uses your personal workout data to suggest new workouts for you to try.
We use this information to improve our service, and better target offers to you.
What We Share and Disclose (back to top)
For the most part, important personal data is shared only with your friends. Very personal information, in particular weight and other bio-data, can only be shared if users opt in to do so.
Typically, we show only a display name (first name and last initial) which we think enables your friends to know it’s you without disclosing too much to the world.
Other personal data we may share includes your workout and exercise history, logs, and comments.
Importantly, other than for legitimate law enforcement purposes, or to protect Fleetly or our employees or users, we will not disclose your contact information to a third party without your explicit consent. Among other things, that means we do not share your personal contact information with advertisers without your explicit consent.
Your picture and activity feed may also show up on our home page, unless you have chosen not to make that information publicly visible.
We will not share your personal contact information with third parties, unless you explicitly agree to it.
By joining Fleetly, you do agree to let us display your name and picture!

Modifying Your Information Privacy Preferences (back to top)
You can control who sees most of your personal data on your settings page, as well as changing certain of the data itself. Those changes take place immediately. Please note, however, that when you remove a profile from search engine indexing that it can take several weeks or more for it to disappear, and that we can’t control the policies that different search engines may employ with respect to honoring “no-index” requests.
If you would like to delete your account, please email us (accounts@fleetly.com) and we will do so for you after verifying your identity.
Children (back to top)
While we think fitness is important for kids, Fleetly is not meant for children. We endeavor to limit our users to people over the age of 13.
Changes to Our Privacy Policy (back to top)
This is our very first Privacy Policy. If you have thoughts or questions, please let us know so we can improve.
By using our site, you agree to use the terms that are in effect at the time you are using it. You agree that we will change our policy over time and you will be subject to those revisions. Whenever we post material modifications to our Privacy Policy, we will announce it publicly.
